Beyond Earthside is a Black-owned, doula service. Norma Christine is the owner and a trained full-spectrum doula. They graduated from Duke University with a Bachelors in psychology. She has a background in EMS and social work which help her to navigate the healthcare system and find local support for their clients.
As a doula, Norma provides each of her clients with personalized, holistic care. They know that a person is more than the information found in their medical history, though that is important. Holistic care aims to break people out of the boxes they have been placed in. By looking at all parts of a person, from their family and support system to their medical conditions and vision for their birth, Norma is able to better address any concerns clients may have.
Norma offers a variety of services spanning preconception through postpartum. Having utilized Fertility Awareness Method for over 3 years, she provides FAM education and coaching. They offer customized yoni steam blends for anything from general wellness to PCOS and other aliments.
All births are valid and welcome at Beyond Earthside, Norma has supported scheduled cesareans, planned epidurals, and completely natural births. She can provide you with birth support whether it is your first or 4th child, at home and in the hospital.
After birth, Norma provides placenta services including encapsulation & keepsakes. She also offers postpartum support, from household help to overnight infant care (night nanny).
Currently, Beyond Earthside is based in Madisonville, KY and serves the surrounding areas including Fort Campbell, KY; Newburgh, IN; and Clarksville, TN. They also provide virtual and traveling care worldwide.
In late August of 2024, Norma will be relocating to Knoxville, TN. She will be accepting clients in that region beginning in September.

Our Mission
Norma got into birthwork out of a desire to make a difference in the reproductive outcomes in their community. She has a particular interest in helping Black, POC, and low-income families, due to their increased risks. They aims to provide each family with customized support that address their needs and empowers them. Norma views their clients as an extension of her family and is accepting of everyone. They have worked with families of all kinds including nuclear, adoptive, & LGBTQ+ and hope to work with yours next!

Earthside- on Earth, i.e. giving birth to a child
Though Norma is only a doula now, she will soon begin training as a certified professional midwife. Upon completion, she plans to return to school and train as mental health counselor. All of this will combine under one business to provide more complete care to each client. With these plans in mind, Beyond Earthside was born.
Our Method
Beyond Earthside is founded on the principle of body autonomy. Norma believe you should determine what works best for your family and your situation. They provide each client with evidence-based information while allowing them to make their own decisions about care. She not only supports your decisions, but will advocate for your wishes to be followed every step of the way. If there needs to be a change in plans, Norma is there to provide any additional information that may be missing and answer whatever questions you have.
